Swiss Trail Running – Braunwald

Braunwald is a wonderful village near the end of Glarnerland in Switzerland sitting at just above 1200 m with easy access from a train and then a funicular. It’s an ideal day trip from Zurich for climbing, klettersteig (via ferrata), paragliding, hiking, easy mountaineering, and trail running adventures. I originally headed there to go over the Ortstock, but there was more snow than expected so I did a loop around the alpine plateau and saved the summit for another day.

Distance: 15 km

Elevation: 1000 m
